Lifesling Training Class | Grant Albert

Join us for MSA Lifesling Training with instructor Grant Albert on Sunday, May 18th. The session will kick off at 1 PM at The Muse with a classroom lecture, video, and tactile learning to provide a comprehensive understanding of lifesling techniques and safety. Following the classroom portion, we’ll head out on the water for hands-on, didactic learning to practice the skills in real-life scenarios.

Pre-learning reading and videos are encouraged to enhance your experience and can be found here at Seattle On The Water. Don’t miss this important training opportunity to improve your crew safety skills!

Grant is looking for 2-4 sailboats to assist with the on-the-water portion. This will involve helping others learn lifesling maneuvers with your boat.

Handling Emergencies: Man Overboard
By: Zeke Quezada, ASA Safety

Every man or woman overboard situation should be treated as a very serious matter, even in seemingly balmy conditions. In cold waters or cold weather, in restricted visibility or at nighttime, or in rough seas, the chances for a positive outcome diminish. Any delay in recovering the person in the water stacks the odds against his chances of survival. the best advice is to do all you can to prevent anyone from ever going overboard, but be prepared to handle the situation if it does occur.
